On June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress adopted the country’s first official flag — thirteen stripes, thirteen stars on a field of blue. That day became Flag Day.
In the 250 years since, the flags themselves have changed plenty. Stars were added. Designs evolved. But the way you actually attach one to something? That stayed exactly the same — a pole, a bracket, a drill, and a permanent hole in whatever you owned.
We thought that was worth fixing.
